Hello beauties,
I don´t know if you have noticed, but in my opinion, ballet is a very popular element in fashion right now.
Fashion designers all around the world are getting inspired by this glorious sport to make their collections look unique.
That´s why I decided to do this DIY - fashion flats inspired by ballet. And what´s better, you won´t need sewing set or hot glue.
An example of ballet shoes in fashion:
Seems like the world is obsessed with ballet. Companies like Topshop, Asos, Nike, Reebok, or fashion houses like Luis Vuitton, Miu Miu, and others invented few elements from ballet to their new collections. And everybody´s loving it because it looks really feminine, elegant, decent and beautiful.
The worst part for us, regular people is that these pieces are often very expensive. And overpriced.
That´s why I had an idea - why not to make shoes like this at home?
Believe me or not, it was easiest than I thought it will be.
And the biggest plus is, you won´t even need a sewing kit or hot glue, so you won´t destroy your actual shoes.
This is how my DIY ballet shoes look like:
#1 What will you need for ballet flats?
- flats (obviously) - you can use whatever you like, for my DIY I used simple white shoes
- ribbons or laces - to my white shoes I used a white ribbon, but then I decided to be more creative and used some pastel colors too
And that´s it!
#2 What´s next?
- When you have your ribbons and shoes, you only have to cut the ribbons (or laces).
- I cut them at 20cm each - do not forget, you need 2 pieces!
- The last part is to bind them around your leg like ballet shoes.
#3 How to bind the ribbons?
Binding your shoes is the most important part of this whole project - but it´s really easy, don´t worry.
1. You need to step on your bow - for the whole time you will have it under your foot
2. Then step in the shoe
3. Cross your ribbons
4.-5. After crossing you need to wrap ribbons: backward-forward-backward-forward.
-So you will have two wraps overall
6. After 2 wraps you have parts of your ribbons forward so the last step is to make a really cute bow and voilá :)
#4 BE CREATIVE
My white ballet shoes look absolutely incredible - I have been already wearing them in public and I can tell, that I received a lot of compliments.
Then I decided to be more creative and changed the colors of ribbons - to baby blue and baby pink and repeated the same technique.
Result? Now I have 3 different "shoes" from one and I absolutely love it!
Thank you so much for reading.
If you will try my creations, please feel free to send me a pics :) I´m very excited to see your products.
Please let me know in the comments what do you think about the combination of ballet and fashion.
With love,
Ally.
